I could go on. But the overall stigma looming over the straight edge is almost unbearable. In my opinion, most people’s view of SE is super negative, and to some degree, I understand why. Dudes at hardcore shows, in hoodies covered with lyrics all written in “varsity” font, with x’s on the backs of their hands, salivating for the next breakdown so they can pummel the next br0 that shrugs their eyebrows disrespectfully, because it’s cooler to get kicked out of shows than actually enjoy them??…..

With a mentality that includes but is not limited to:

“My family sucks” (….except they pay for my phone and insurance), “I hate my father” (…but we go fishing every saturday), “my best friends are the only family I have” (….but when they don’t text me back, I cry on my mommy’s shoulder), “I will rip your limbs off” (….some other time, when my arms aren’t so ‘shredded’ from lifting)……blahdy blahdy blah. 

Obviously this is all a gross generalization. I’m as drug/sex/alcohol free as the next br0, but that’s not how I work and it bums me out that the “straight edge attitude” is kind of a joke amongst the rest of the world, who in fact are not edge. 

Who would want to be edge, if you think it means you have to hate everything and are void of joy?!

Just thinking out loud. I know I’m obnoxious. Your thoughts are welcome. :]
